Licenses

Licenses represent a set of legal terms which govern the use of electronic resources. These are usually expressed through a document, or set of documents, signed by both the library and the provider of the electronic content.

In Folio terms 'license' refers to a record which brings together the relevant documents and allows the recording of some of the terms expressed by those documents.

Where a license is constructed through several documents these may relate to each other in a hierarchical way (e.g. a single license document may have several license amendment documents related to it)

The terms from the license may be interpreted and applied, along with terms from other sources, to the content within an agreement.

This Epic represents the requirement for libraries to be able to create and manage license records in Folio and relate these to the documents that express the license.
