Async validation of barcode does not allow leaving field empty

The back-end still requires barcode, but it's gonna be optional, so it should be possible to leave it empty. Currently the validation will say that the (empty) barcode is already taken (which seems wrong anyway).

It's possibly to submit the form without a bar code if you never enter and exit the field, though - only tabbing out of it triggers the validation message.
