      Description

Overview: When adding or editing a subfield in quickMARC, there's inconsistent behavior with spaces

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. Log into FOLIO-snapshot-load as diku_admin
      2. Make sure that there are some MARC records in Inventory
      3. Select one of the Instances with Source = MARC and go to Admin/Edit in quickMARC
      4. Test 1
        • Find an existing field with multiple subfields (for example 264) and edit the subfield to remove the space between the subfield letter/number and the data in the subfield (for example, change 264....., $c 2019. to 264...., $c2019)
        • Save the record and view the publisher info in the Instance
      5. Test 2
        • Edit in quickMARC again. Go back to that existing field, and put the space in after the subfield letter/number, and then remove the space before the subfield mark (for example, change 264....., $c 2019. to 264....,$c 2019)
        • Save the record and view the publisher info in the Instance
      6. Test 3
        • Edit in quickMARC again. Add 2 new fields to the record:
          • 500 [no indicators] $aTest note [no space after $a]
          • 500 [no indicators] $a Test note [with a space after $a]
          • Save the record and view the notes in the Instance

Expected Results: Regardless of whether the user includes a space before or after the subfield mark and the subfield alphanumeric, quickMARC should recognize the subfield marker and alphanumeric, and save them back to SRS accurately.

Actual Results: If there is no space when a subfield is edited, the subfield mark and alphanumeric sometimes displays as part of the data. If a new subfield is added with no space after the subfield alphanumeric, the first letter of the actual data is replaced with a space.
