Make optimistic locking implementation backward compatible

The adaption of mod-inventory-update for optimistic locking in Inventory Storage fails for earlier versions of Inventory Storage from before the _version field was first introduced. 

Since mod-inventory-update declares to support earlier versions of the storage APIs it must be able to handle storage data without a _version field.
