Delete records from mod_circulation_storage.scheduled_notice when item checked in

I have been reviewing the system creates notices in the context of migrating loans and their associated notices for go live. I see that when an item is checked out, entries are created in*mod_circulation_storage.schedule notice. But those entries are not deleted from the scheduled_notice table when items are checked in, contrary to what I expected. Do the records in scheduled_notice interact with the loan table, so that notices are not sent if the loan is status = "Closed"?
I don't imagine this is a bug; I'm just asking.
